BID OPENING: Tuesday, August 15, 2017, 10:00 a.m- at which time and place bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bid prices for each line item of the Schedule of Work must be entered on the BidsOnline system in accordance with the instructions beginning on page 15. LOCATION OF THE WORK: 427 Oak Canyon, Irvine, CA 92618 and 1 Civic Center Plaza.
MANDATORY PRE-BID MEETING: There will be a mandatory pre-bid meeting on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. at the Operation Support Facility, 6427 Oak Canyon, Irvine, CA 92618 in Conference Room A. Failure to attend will result in your bid being declared non-responsive.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The work to be performed shall include, but not be limited to: Work required to enhance Workplace Security at the Irvine City Hall and the Operations Support Facility. The work involves major renovation of the Police Department Lobby including bullet resistant counter window glazing and bullet resistant under counter panels. Other work requires the modification of counters in the Council Chambers, Community Development Space, and the Lobby Counter of the 1st Floor and the Community Service/Public Works Department on the 2nd Floor. Additionally the following work is required at the Operation-Support Facility: fencing, exterior lighting and lobby alterations. The construction documents also include a bid alternative to replace the existing wood veneer on the Council Chamber furnishings including the dais, Directors and City Clerk desks, and the presenter and speaker’s podium in accordance with the Plans, Specifications and other items not mentioned here, but required by the Special Provisions.
THE ENGINEER’S COST ESTIMATE for the Base Bid is $580,000 and the cost estimate for the Alternate Bid is $50,000.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Prime Contractor must possess a valid Class B license. At the time of submitting the bid, the Bidder shall be licensed as a contractor in accordance with the provisions of California Business and Professions Code Chapter 9, Division 3.
COMPLETION OF WORK AND LIQUIDATED DAMAGES: All work shall be completed in a total of Seventy (70) Working Days (excluding item numbers 2 and 4 below) and Ninety (90) Working Days (including item numbers 2 and 4 below) from the date specified in the Notice to Proceed.
