Newport Beach Vineyards & Winery show case the cheese of Vin Goat

BP1Vin Goat, an artisan cheese, and wine shop and The Newport Beach Vineyards and Winery joined together for a special wine and cheese pairing, featuring the entire line-up of their award-winning wines. The evening began with a sparkling wine reception and a tour of this amazing property. The Vineyard owned and operated by Richard Moriarty is an incredible oasis overlooking the Back Bay. The nearly 8 acre property hosts a beautiful vineyard growing up the hillside with over twelve hundred vines. The vineyard covers nearly a third of the property, and produces up to five tons of high quality red wine grapes.BP2 There are terraced stone walkways with a vast variety of plants, shrubs, trees and herbs and as you walk through the grounds one is amazed at the details beautifully landscape within this gated property.  There are cascading ponds filled with huge Coy fish and the biggest Cat Fish I BP3have ever seen, which according to our guide are occasionally caught and served as supper for Richard. As we walked up towards the house overlooking Upper Newport Bay, we were treated to an apiary filled with exotic and colorful pheasants, cockatoos and native birds. After our tour we gathered in the 1000 square-foot, underground working wine cave where we enjoyed a guided pairing of the wines of Newport Beach Vineyards and Winery, and the deliciousBP4 artisan cheeses of Vin Goat. Led by the Vin Goat co-owners Hans-Erich Vogel and John Bennett we were served tastings of 9 cheeses and 5 paired wines along with bread, crackers and other paired accompaniments such as fresh and dried fruit, nuts, preserves and confit.  This was truly a unique and enjoyable experience! The Winery located at 2128 Mesa Drive in Newport Beach is not open to the public for wine tasting but can be reserved for special events. info@nbwine.com 949-500-0273 Vin Goat is located at 3326 East Coast Highway, Corona del Mar, CA  92625.
