“America’s small business owners have improved the lives of countless people throughout the world,” per the Small Business Administration.
Every year, during Small Business Week, the SBA holds the Small Business Week Awards honoring and highlighting successful business owners at districts nationwide. This year marks the 24th year of outstanding service by the Santa Ana, CA District Office 
which over the years has granted billions of dollars in loans, helped thousands of small businesses compete for Federal Government contracts, and counseled & trained innumerable entrepreneurs through its network of resource partners.
The nomination process includes extensive paper work process, interview and a selection committee. One of the five nomination categories is the Small Business Person of the Year with the following nomination criteria:
- developing an outstanding
- growing business
- innovative product(s)
- increasing jobs
- increasing sales
- overcoming adversity
- community contributions
This year’s nomination was very competitive, but SABP Reprographics’ president, Colleen Howes, was chosen as one of the five finalists for this category.
