Taylor Morrison breaks ground on Sea Summit at Marblehead

Formerly known as Marblehead Coastal, the Sea Summit Marblehead development is located on a tall bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean in the City of San Clemente. Taylor Morrison Homes is building 308 homes and a Recreation center on 196 residential acres complete with the hiking trails, four public parks and they have restored a native habitat on what will become a 100-acre preserve, more than half the property. Marblehead Coastal plateau is located between I-5 and the coast at Avenida Vista Hermosa. The entire forefront of the coastal plateau is to be open space. Ocean-view homes will be set back from the bluff, leaving unobstructed open space.

All stormwater runoff will be channeled into three detention basins and contaminants in the runoff will settle into the basin and the water will be piped to San Clemente’s wastewater treatment plant to be further cleaned before being sent out to sea off Dana Point in a regional outfall. One of the detention basins has actually shown signs of becoming popular with ducks and other waterfowl allowing for some really great wildlife-habitat viewing.

The trails at Sea Summit will also serve as an access to or an extension of the popular beach trail. Users will be able to walk the beach trail from Calafia Beach to North Beach and cross El Camino Real at the city’s oceanfront Metrolink station to access the trails at Sea Summit.

Adjacent to Sea Summit, developer Steve Craig is building the Outlets at San Clemente Plaza. The construction of the 52 acre site is in full swing and anticipated opening the 325,000-square-foot first phase sometime next summer. The center will contain approximately 67 shopping and dining venues located along I-5 at the Vista Hermosa exit.

Taylor Morrison is building four neighborhoods  simultaneously, homes 2,200 to 5,000 square feet on lots 5,000 to 7,000 square feet.
