This year’s AIA Orange County Design Awards and Gala were once again held under the stars in the courtyard of the beautiful Newport Beach Civic Center on September 18th 2014. Alan Hess spoke before the winners were announced and his presentation included photos and the history of the many buildings and homes in Orange County designed by world renowned Architects. His message focused on the strength of OC architecture and the need for preservation of our design heritage.
With a tradition of honoring exceptional responses to the complex problems of today’s architectural environment, the AIAOC Design Awards celebrate innovative solutions to the architectural challenges facing Orange County, regardless of project category, type, or budget.
From the largest urban planning solution, to the smallest home on a constrained lot, each project awarded stands on its own merit as an example of exceptional work by exceptional architects.
25% of the 62 Entrants received awards this year. Additionally there were 3 honor awards and 4 merit awards in the student category. The top three student winners received scholarship’s in the amount of: 3rd place = $500, 2nd place = $750, 1st place = $1,000.
